Halk Kar crash-lands on Earth in a rocketship and is rescued by Superman, who discovers that Halk Kar suffers from amnesia. Discovering a note from Jor-El in Halk Kar's possession which mentions Jor-El's son, Superman assumes that he must not only be from his own planet Krypton, but he must be a son of Jor-El and thus also his own older brother. Halk Kar is exposed to a powerful electric shock inflicted on him by criminals, he recovers his memory and explains to Superman who he is and how he came into possession of a note from Jor-El. He says that his name is Halk Kar and that he is from the planet Thoron, which is in the same solar system as Krypton. Years ago, while on a pioneer voyage into space, he landed on Krypton with his damaged rocketship. There he met Jor-El, who explained that Krypton's destruction was imminent and repaired Halk Kar's rocketship, and sent him on his way. Shock waves from Krypton knocked him unconscious.

The Hand is simply that, a disembodied hand that appears in a puff of smoke to mete out justice. The Hand can enlarge its size at will and bullets bounce off of it. It doesn't speak, rather writes words in the air or leaves hand-written cards. The Hand works in cooperation with authorities. It only appeared twice--clearly a man's hand. His origins were never revealed though my take on it was that it was some magician's hand reaching across the miles and through the smoke. The stories never gave a hint, however. As a youth in the 1920 s, Molly was such a fine athlete that she defeated all male challengers-leaving her without a boyfriend. Joining the professional world, she decided to be as subservient as possible, becoming a timid secretary to Alan Scott, who was program director to radio station WXYZ in Gotham City, and who was secretly the superhero Green Lantern. As a promotional gimmick, the station hired Lantern to star in a radio drama; Molly was cast opposite him as the villainous Harlequin. Falling in love with the superhero but unable to hold his interest, Molly decided to become the evil Harlequin in real life and thus monopolize his time and energies. The two battled frequently, though Harlequin never tried to hurt him; eventually retiring, Molly gained immunity from prosecution in exchange for data on other super villains. Weapons: Mask has lenses which enable her to hypnotize people, create illusions, and fire electrical blasts; mandolin which she uses as a club.
