Military Comics #20 featured a story about a woman who attempts to become the first woman member of the Blackhawks, who looks, sounds and behaves much like Zinda Blake, although she does not divulge her name, and never calls herself Lady Blackhawk. In the story, she flies to Blackhawk Island, declares herself part of the team, and helps the Blackhawks on a mission behind German lines. Ultimately, she rescues Blackhawk himself. Some say that this is Zinda Blake's true first appearance, but this has never been official.

No body suspects that Lady Luck was actually Brenda Banks, a "debutante crime buster bored with social life" who decided to become a "modern lady Robin Hood." Her costume was not a traditional comic book vigilante, it looked like something that a Will Eisner femme fatale would wear. It was an emerald green gown, a green hat, and a green silk veil over her face to disguise her identity. She solved blackmail cases, kidnappings, spies, and any other cases that came her way. As Brenda Banks she was in love with Police Chief Hardy Moore, but Moore's job was to bring in Lady Luck.

Her fianc and she were victims of a bombing while on a ship. As told in Dynamic Comics #2, the ship sunk, her fianc died, and she took an oath to be the foe of the evil Germans. Donning a mask and waltzing about in an evening dress, somehow she managed to travel unnoticed through the streets of Nazi occupied France as she fought the German host. Lady Satan is a sorceress who fights the evil occult. Her magic is very powerful, allowing her to do just about anything, and she wears a ring in the shape of a serpent which can give off gasses from dragon scales, which allows her to unveil the shadow world.

Ace Periodicals' hero "The Sword" was based on the legend of King Arthur. Young Arthur Lake was the son of John Lake, president of the Lake Aircraft Company. He possessed the magic sword Excalibur, which he kept embedded in a stone in a secret hiding place. Whenever Arthur would remove the sword from the stone, he would be magically transformed into the powerful hero known as the Sword.The Sword had two assistants -- Lancer and the sorcerer Merlin. Lancer was really Arthur Lake's pal, Lance Larter. Merlin was secretly an old man named Moe Lynn who worked at Mr. Lake's plant. Whenever Arthur removed Excalibur from the stone, Lance and Moe would also be transformed into their heroic counterparts. Lancer had a costume similar to that of the Sword, except that he carried a large lance.
