Reporter Libby Belle Lawrence is a native of Warsaw and is forced to flee from Poland and then Holland when the Germans invade. She comes to America, famous for having swum the English Channel during her escape from France, and becomes a reporter. While visiting the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia she is given a replica of the bell. She is moved enough by the Bell that she feels the need to do more than just report the news. She puts on a costume and wears the replica as a belt buckle; when crime threatens Tom Revere, the man who gave Lawrence the bell replica, rings the real Liberty Bell, which causes Libby's belt buckle to vibrate. She has no superpowers but is a strong fighter.

There were the Three Lieutenant Marvels. A radio contest introduced Billy Batson (by this time a boy radio announcer for WHIZ radio) to three other young boys with the same name (one a tall boy from Texas, one fat one from Brooklyn, and one from the South. (Tall Billy, Fat Billy and Hill Billy.) As you might expect, soon enough they were all in harm s way, tied to logs in a sawmill with the buzzing blades drowning out Billy s voice. They added their voice to his, and SHAZAM! Tall Marvel, Fat Marvel and Hillbilly Marvel were born. Only works if all three were to say the magic word, "SHAZAM!", in unison.

Lightning Man was actually an Kryptonite / amnesia induced Superman. A small piece of Kryptonite was circling the Earth, and every time it was over Metropolis it knocked Clark Kent into a dazed stupor, but his Super-self would fight the condition and he would then turn into Lightning Man. The First time this happened he was in his apartment and unknowingly used the Curtian material as his costume. Batman the world's greatest detective only took the whole issue to work this out. Lightning Man had pretty much all of Superman's powers.

The story of a young man, who was favoured by the gods to combat the forces of evil." An old man observes Dave Terry saving a cat from the jaws of a stray dog, and approaches him afterwards, saying "You are the man I have been looking for, a man with goodness in his heart and the courage to pit his strength against the forces of evil. He takes Dave through clouds of swirling vapour to the home of the gods, "where he is given great powers to aid him in his fight against evil". They give him a clasp to wear around his throat, embossed with a lightning flash, as a symbol of their power, and send him home to battle evil. He was able to fly extremely fast, had super-strength and was bullet-proof.
