Dick Walters is the son of Walt Walters, a.k.a. The Black Owl. Unfortunately, Dick and his twin brother Rick are too young to officially enlist, so they put on costumes to fight enemy spies in the U.S., Dick as Doodle and Rick as his partner Yank. Doodle is almost powerless when alone, but when he is in the presence of the Doodle he has super-strength and invulnerability.

The scientist's son, Dandy, upon seeing his father killed, also injected himself with the serum. The two were called upon by Uncle Sam himself to battle the foes of freedom and the U.S.A.

The son of American Senator Walter Q. Noble, member of the Senate Naval Committee, when war threatened his country, Jerry Noble made it his personal mission to stop Axis saboteurs, accompanied by Sam, his pet eagle. After a few months of independently protecting Naval operations, he became an operative of the Naval Secret Service, and his nickname of Yankee Eagle became his official codename. Thereafter he would mark his opponents when he defeated them by placing a facsimile Yankee Eagle postage stamp on their foreheads.

Lauren Mason, the teenaged member of society's Junior League, learns some old arcane knowledge and gains the power of changing into Yankee Girl just by saying the words "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Yankee Girl has the strength of about 60 men and the ability to resist up to around a .30 calibre bullet. She can also fly at up to 200 mph. She does not possess these powers all the time and must transform from Lauren Mason to Yankee Girl. She appears to be able to remain Yankee Girl for an indefinite period of time.

Vince Harley is a crime writer looking for information on the perfect crime. In his search he becomes involved with a bank robbery. The thieves knock him out and then try to tip a carton of yellowjackets on top of him. However, Vince is not stung, as he is “one of those rare people that bees don’t sting.?Vince is not stung, but is angry, and so puts on a costume, discovers his talent for directing bees, and goes out and fights crime.
