Centuries ago a legendary warrior called "Iron Ace" fought by Charlemagne's side for France. When Iron Ace died Charlemagne predicted that the Iron Ace would return, as "the champion of freedom." During World War Two Captain Britain, a British pilot , is shot down over France and forced to hide in the castle of Dr. LaFarge. LaFarge is the leader of a resistance group, but the Germans shoot him after they track Britain to his castle. Captain Britain puts on the old armour (still in perfect shape) of the Iron Ace and kills the Germans in the castle with the Ace's sword. He then makes himself a plane and, still wearing the Ace's plate armour, takes to the skies and kills heaps o' Germans. The Ace has no superpowers, but like his plane is so heavily armoured that he's bullet-proof.

Iron Jaw was the result of Project: Ubermann. Dorothy Schmidt had the honour of bearing two children for the program: Emil Kohl (Iron Jaw) and Franz Kreuzmann (Captain Nazi). Franz, the older brother, took great delight in humiliating Emil. As puberty arrived it became apparent that Franz was far more powerful than Emil Franz. During one of their frequent fights Franz crushed Emil's lower jaw. Although Emil was less powerful than Franz the Project had a use for him. They healed his wounds as best they could but had to replace his crushed jaw with one of steel. Iron Jaw has the strength of 10 men and can resist .45 and .38 calibre bullets. His jaws are powered by his telekinetic field and can chew through chain link. He is also well-trained in hand-to-hand and armed combat.

The Iron Man lives in a huge bubble city at the bottom of the ocean in the south seas. Iron Man was portrayed as the only survivor of a civilization that was destroyed in an earthquake. When he wasn't brooding in his submerged palace, the fearless (and ferrous) hero answered pleas from his young pals Jean and Ted to battle surface-world bad guys, which included such Golden Age standbys as pirates and Nazis. He possesses powers of super strength, indestructibility and near-flight leaping. 1st original Canadian 'Super-Hero'.
