In 1940, the aged Dawson was grazing some cattle when he noticed a meteor. Upon investigation, that meteor turned out to be a spaceship built and manned by a Dr. Morgan. When Dawson approached, he discovered Morgan burying an alien. After helping him bury the being, Morgan invited Dawson into his spaceship. The last thing Dawson remembered was being offered a drink. When he awoke, he found himself in space. A televisor message from Dr. Morgan informed him that he had exposed Dawson to Heaviside radiation which would not only rejuvenate him but would also give him super-human powers with which to fight crime. When Dawson returned to Earth, he discovered that he had fire elemental aspect powers. He took the name Red Blazer and fought crime for several decades. Once rejuvenated, he found that he did age again but at a much reduced rate. Later became Captain Red Blazer, with new identity and costume. (text only stories)

Red Comet, who has no origin or secret identity, works on and off Earth in the year 2040; he is the "mystery man of the universe." He wars on his enemies, criminals and "warmongers." His abilities are magically based; he has super-strength (enough to literally throw people off the planet), telekinesis, an extrasensory attraction to criminals, and the ability to explode bullets before they reach him.
