While there is no mention of a Golden Age Legion of Super-Heroes, Mars Boy can be considered an early "prototype" of Star Boy. "Lana Lang's Romance on Mars" In Superboy #14 has many similarities to the later Silver Age story in Adventure No. 282, "Lana Lang Meets the Legion". There is also a physical similarity between Mars Boy and Star Boy . He could fly and had super-strength.

Only Appearance / Hercules, the hero of Egypt, dies and ascends to Valhalla. He's happy there, but one day becomes concerned about the rise to power of the Nazi party in Germany, and so asks Jupiter to allow him to return to Earth to fight against that evil. Jupiter grants his wish, and Hercules returns to Earth, reincarnated, in the form of Martin Burns. Burns is born with super strength, but hasn't done anything with it by the time he reaches adolescence. At that time a package containing a costume is delivered to the Burns home, and that night a Shadow visits Martin, informing him that he is the reincarnation of Hercules, that there is evil to be fought, and that the weed of crime bears a bitter fruit. Martin goes on to fight crime. He's got super strength.

An ordinary schoolboy named Martin Burns is visiting a museum with the other students from his school when a mummy case falls and wounds him. Martin receives the "extract" of the entombed via the wound, and since the mummy was Hercules, well, you know zany wackiness is going to follow. That night a mysterious Shadow visits Martin Burns and tells him that he now possesses the spirit of Hercules. Martin puts on a costume and becomes Marvel Boy, with the strength of Hercules, the speed of winged Mercury, and the wisdom of Abe Lincoln.

Like Superman, Marvel Boy was rocketed to another planet as a baby, when the one he'd been born on was struck with a terrible disaster. In his case, the planet he left was Earth, and the disaster was the Nazi take-over of Germany in the 1930s, which resulted in the deaths of his mother and sister. Bob grew up among Uranians, absorbing their high intelligence and telepathic abilities. He took those abilities, as well as pills to give him enhanced strength, with him when he returned to Earth to deal with a post-war sci-fi style menace that had suddenly popped up. In addition, Dad gave him a pair of wrist bands that could emit "atomic radiance" that would temporarily blind an opponent. Marvel Comics has always been enamoured of superhero names that contain the word "marvel" ?Ms. Marvel, The Black Marvel, Captain Marvel ?This character was the third to be called Marvel Boy, and the company had been producing comic books for only 11 years. The first two Marvel Boys were short-lived back-page fillers during the early 1940s
