Dr. Drake Gorden was a passenger freighter bound for the South Seas when the ship is hit by a typhoon. Dr. Gorden is swept to an uncharted island on which, at the top of a huge mountain, is a Tibetan monk. The monk gives Dr. Gorden a black diamond, explaining that the diamond had been discovered thousands of years ago by an Egyptian who used the diamond for good. The diamond was stolen by him and used for wicked ends until it disappeared, to be found by the Tibetan, who kept it until he would find someone who would use its powers to rid the world of evildoers. Dr. Gorden, no fool, accepts the diamond and goes back to the world to fight crime. The diamond gives him the "strength of fifty men."

Hailing from the great arctic north, Doctor Frost can fire beams of cold from his hands and envelop himself in a sheath of ice so thick that it can withstand strong explosions. But he doesn't exclusively rely on his cold powers; he is a good scrapper in his own right. However, the good doctor isn't invincible; a powerful blow to the head can knock him out. Sometimes our hero sports a pair of trousers, but mostly he wears just a simple pair of shorts with his costume. In a career lasting nearly three years, Doctor Frost finds himself always in adventures where his cold powers work best.

The doctor developed two pills, one, the S+ , rapidly increased muscles so that he became the 'Samson of Science'. The other pill, M+ did the same but only to his head! This gave him telepathic powers to probe men's minds. After an hour the effect wore off, and he shrank back to being a puny weakling.
